Progressive Fire-Brand Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) demands Nancy Pelosi and Kevin McCarthy “take appropriate action” against far-right gun-toting rep Lauren Boebert (R-Co) for her anti-Muslim comments.
Omar on Thursday night challenged her associate congresswoman over a hate story that Boebert told in her home district during Thanksgiving weekend that Omar says is fiction.
As Boebert said, she was in an elevator in the Capitol building when a police officer ran in saying they were afraid of Emar.
“Well, she has no back-pack. We should be fine,” Bobert recalled when she told police – before calling her colleague a member of the “Jihad Squad” because she is Muslim.
After the video surfaced on Twitter, Omar responded, quoting Boebert’s story as “made”. “Actually, the buffoon looks down when she sees me in the Capitol, the whole story is made. Sad that she thinks, that violence gets her strength,” Omar wrote on Twitter. “Anti-Muslim bigotry is not strange and should not be normalized. Congress can not be a place where hesitant and dangerous Muslim dropouts receive no judgment.
On Friday, Omar followed up with another tweet: “To say I’m a suicide bomber is no laughing matter. @GOPLeader and @SpeakerPelosi need to take appropriate action, normalizing this bigotry not only endangering my life but the lives of all Muslims. Anti “Muslim greatness has no place in Congress.”
Boebert did not return the Daily Beast’s text message for comment on Thursday evening. Friday morning, Boebert tweeted an apology “to anyone in the Muslim community I offended with my comment about Rep. Omar.”
