Adele reveals that her record label made her scrap FIFTEEN MINUTE version of I Drink Wine

Adele revealed one of her latest tracks, I Drink Wine, was originally fifteen minutes long before it was edited down to just over six minutes.

The 33-year-old singer made the melody for the second single from her new album, 33, admitting that her record label had cut her original masterpiece since ‘Nobody Would Hear’.

Released Friday, the power ballad was written for a friend at a time when the Hello Songstrine had ‘taken things very personally’ in their friendship.

She hilariously told Rolling Stone: ‘[The label] Was like, “Listen, everyone loves you, but no one plays a 15 minute song on radio.”

Added that a friend named Jed encouraged her to produce voice recordings of her moments of self doubt, she went on to overlay the monologues with a soft piano.

She says at the last minute of the song: ‘The only regret I have is that it was just at a different time. The most turbulent time of my life.

‘Why should I put that on you? This is just like a very difficult thing to have to talk about.

“But because of the time, even though it was so fun, I could not go on and make new memories with it. There were only memories in the big storm.”

It’s been six years since her last record was released and the time out of the spotlight has certainly paid off for Adele because her new album has received rave reviews from critics.

Adele looked overjoyed at the snap as she stood with her arms over her head while playing a tight black ensemble.

With I Drink Wine featuring as the third track from the album, it was fitting that at the solemn snap she stood with a glass of wine in shot.

The singer’s fourth album, inspired by her divorce from her ex-husband Shimon Koneki, was released to positive acclaim on Friday, despite the fact that the theme of her divorce turned out to be ‘all-consuming’.

Rob Sheffield of the Rolling Stone has declared 30 to be Adele’s best album yet and said she ‘never sounded more ferocious’.

He wrote: ‘You would not think that this is possible, but her vocals have become even more expressive.

Adele’s voice is a tank compartment that can tap-dance – the more mature she gets as an artist, the more finesse and tact she brings to the microphone, without sacrificing any of the primal firepower that made her famous in the first place.

‘It’s all there in the one Easy On Me where she pauses mid-song to linger on the first note of’ Easy ‘as long as you feel like you might disappear, though you can tell she’s not breaking a sweat.’

The Independent awarded the album four stars and praised the songs as ‘beautifully crafted ballads’, saying it was Adele’s strong voice that sold them.

Review Annabel Nugent wrote: ‘It’s an epic without resorting to showy, melismatic effects. It ions into unexpected shapes and makes intonation fun.

‘But there are many great vocalists who do not attract the same crowd adoration. There’s something different about Adele that makes her so pet, something that pre-natural vocal cords alone can not explain. ‘

# Adele30 became a trending theme on Twitter immediately after the album was released with fans the world over praising the record.
